This morning on display are three vases, with a mixture of daffodils and branches of crabapple blossom.
The Rip Van Winkle daffodils are quite spectacular with many layers of ruffled petals. They were only planted out in late January so to have them in flower just six weeks on is quite impressive.
The three pots used in this display, and the ceramic tray they sit on, are all recently acquired. I’m in a mood for earthy tones and crackled glaze.
This morning is sunny in Somerset, in the southwest UK, and the blossom on the crabapple tree looks splendid. It’s a gorgeous deep peach colour and plentiful enough to take a few sprigs indoors.
Each Monday Cathy at Rambling in the garden hosts the meme ‘In A Vase On Monday’ as gardeners around the world share pictures of beautiful blooms. If you have a few minutes pop a few flowers in a vase and share what’s blooming lovely where you are.
Beautiful vignette. The crabapple just sings of spring.

The earth-tone vases set it all off beautifully! I love how all three vases play off each other – but those super fluffy daffodils I think are my favorite!

I think your crab apple may actually be an ornamental quince (Chaenomeles) – if it has ‘thorns’, that’s definitely what it is, and this is about the time it would be in flower. It’s lovely anyway, and a good shrub to have in the garden especially if you manage to get some quinces from it. And your pound shop daffodils!! Wonderful – there are certainly bargains plants to be had at these shops if you check the contents of the packaging before you buy them . Both Aldi and Lidl are also good for plants, especially Aldi and especially in spring and summer. Thanks for sharing your vases today and glad you are enjoying the meme

Thanks very much Cathy! So It’s a quince and not a crabapple

I’m still learning what’s what in this new garden! Thanks for the hint 🙂

An ornamental one, so not a ‘real’ quince (which is a Cydonia) but you may still get edible (when cooked) ornamental quinces some years.

Rip van winkle is very impressive in timescale and beauty. I’ve just bought a Chaenomeles and am deciding where to put it. They are lovely shrubs, the colour of yours is so vibrant.

Rip van Winkle is one of my favourites too – short stems and lots of yellow fluffy flowers. I love your crab apple blossom! You must be a couple of weeks ahead of us as my daffs are not budding yet.
