Vanessa Bell Roses in October

Vanessa Bell was a painter in the Bloomsbury set, and she’s the namesake for a fabulous yellow rose.

Today I learned that she painted this portrait of her husband’s lover. The side eye in this portrait is spectacular, and its not surprising some said it was deliberately made ugly.

The Bloomsbury set were a weird lot.

Meanwhile, in the garden, there are roses, cosmos, anemone and aster blooming still, while the rest of the garden is drifting towards fall.

I hope that your autumn is looking good, and you can take some time to enjoy the colours as the seasons change.
