The ruddy darter was at its usual spot on the pond, showing off its marvellous wings.
The alstromeria behind the horsehead statue is doing well, despite the drought, and the mini lavetera ‘Barnsley baby’ is doing well too.
The agapanthus, combined with whirling butterfly guara and vanessa bell rose is a pleasing combo that I’d like to repeat elsewhere, so we might see more like this next year.

In the greenhouse ‘basket of fire’ chillis are ripening. At home Brits recieved an emergency alert reminding us not to light fires or BBQs. That response to weeks of drought in a climate crisis seemed woefully inadequate in a ‘this is fine’ cartoon meme type way.
This week’s garden cinema showing was ‘Idiocracy’ a 20 year old film about dumbing down and idiots taking over the world, a prediction which has proved to almost entirely correct, just about 500 years earlier than anticipated in the movie.
There was a solar eclipse, and we joined our neighbours on ‘sunset fields’ watching the spectacle.

I love the close up of the dragonfly, the wings are amazing. The gaura/rose/agapanthus combo is, indeed, lovely.

I thought that alstroemeria was more white. It is also pretty in pink, though. You got a good six.
Idiocracy is a favorite of mine when I want to laugh instead of cry at what seems to be happening. I need to go buy me some Brawndo for the garden. It’s what plants crave! It’s got electrolytes, dontcha know!
But seriously – I love the dragonfly picture. I see a fair number of dragonflies despite not having a water feature, but they are not always holding still for their photo like this one, and what lovely wings!
