Back in early Spring, I cut back an enormous, thorny old plant.
Mystery plant in February
Initially, I thought it might be a wild rose, but later on found out it’s a wineberry.
The wineberry is a delicious, raspberry like plant, which produces masses of fruit.

We’ve been feasting on wineberries for a couple of weeks. They are exceedingly fruity, almost like fruit pastilles. They don’t taste like raspberries but there’s a dash of the sharpness of a redcurrant with the sweetness of a strawberry.
I think I’ll have a go a propagating some of these, so I can share the fruity bounty. They’re super yum!
