Here’s a snapshot of seven garden things this week.

First up, hail! Icy April showers on the lawn, looking strangely lovely. At this time of year it can feel as though winter and spring are fighting out who’s on top. The cat does not enjoy the hail.

A bee on the pansies. This buff tailed bumblebee buzzed around the flowers by the pond for several minutes.

The stepping stone pathway is coming along, with more planting around the stones including rose rock cress (Arabis blepharophylla ‘Rose Delight’).

The pots by the back door – with cowslip, anemone and rose rock cress.

The planters by the dining room doors, with daffs battered by hail blithely shining on about 30 minutes later when the sun returns.

Yellow Pomponette, a Double Mid Tulip with peony-like blooms in golden yellow, popping out the side of the rose bed.

And Echinacea – I think! These were miniscule plug plants about six months ago when they arrived as part of a ‘nurserymans favourites’ selection from a garden mail order offer. I’m happy they’ve grown on enough to go into the new rose patch, and I hope they do well.

This Sunday I did a bit of planting just before the rain began again. We’ve decided where the sweet pea towers will be going this year, and the garden plan is starting to come together for this year. 🙂

Have a lovely week

Goodness; hail!
The hail showers have taken their toll in our plants this week. I love the yellow tulip – such a rich colour
