Bird song in the garden this week in Somerset for #SixOnSaturday.
The six things in the garden that caught my attention this week were birdsong, the hammock, roses and damselfly, cosmos seedlings, daisies in the grass, and the sunshine.
On the pergola, the wisteria has finished but the grapevines are coming along, and the daisies in the lawn are looking cheerful. In the greenhouse…which I just watered in the nick of time since taking the snap – there are cosmos seedlings ready to go and chilli plants starting to set fruit.

In the last couple of weeks I made an app about identifying British bird song, and how the dawn chorus has changed over time. It won ‘best app’ at the Bath Digital Festival buildathon, which was nice.
You can play the game here: https://dawn-chorus-quest.lovable.app/
You can watch a run through of the demo below (it’s long – seven minutes of bird based tedium or bliss depending how you see it).

Let’s get back to the garden shall we?
The hammock is out, and we have a houseguest enjoying the sunshine.

The rose patch is pretty spectacular. There was a great big bug on it earlier this week, which I almost got a wonderful photo of.

I did manage to get a better shot of this damselfly in the pond, which darted off miliseconds after I took this snap.

The pergola and daisies are pleasing, the bird song is beautiful, the roses bloom and the greenhouse needs watering, the cat wants feeding…

It’s that time of year when everything in the garden seems to sing. So I’m off to enjoy it.
