Just after I wished for sunshine and sparkles at the end of yesterday’s blog, some tiny sparkles of insect wings on the newly planted purple daisies in the garden caught my eye.

Looking more closely there was a bluebottle and a bumblee on the flowers.
Rather delightfully these little insect wings caught the sunshine as they flitted about feeding.

And after consulting this marvellous identification guide from the Bumblebee Conservation Trust, I reckon it’s a buff-tailed bumblebee.

I hope that your wishes come true, particularly if they involve wishing for a biodiverse garden and sunshine to sparkle on the wings of a bumblee.
It’s still chilly out, the sunshine didn’t last long, and the cat wanted feeding. But it was a nice little moment.

What a beautiful set of pictures! I can’t wait to see buff-tailed bumblebees in my garden this year. Saw the first butterfly flitting around my terrace the other day 🙂
