The spring bulb ‘lasagne’ planters have been fabulous lately. The lesson learned that inspired this project was to ‘do the plan’ as we’d been meaning to plant these up for a couple of years before getting a round tuit.*
Here’s how ‘we’ made them. https://doingtheplan.com/2025/10/31/spring-bulb-lasagne-recipe-and-lessons-learned-do-the-plan/
* A round tuit (pronounced ‘to it’) is a legendary orb that inoculates against procrastination.

It was frosty this morning. The frost ferns on a bucket of rainwater were very beautiful, the droplets on the lupins looked lovely.

The lupin is alive, albeit lightly frosted. I’ve not had the best luck with lupins. This specimen almost died, recovered in the greenhouse over winter, and now needs to be planted out so it can be eaten by slugs immediately. I might actually rethink that plan!
The cutting bed tulips are delightful. Here’s me with a little posy I picked on my 50th birthday, feeling very fortunate and loved. Thanks to my lovely husband for planting the flowers and taking the snapshot. I usually prefer to be behind the camera / phone but on this occasion I’m posting a selfie. Felt cute. Might delete later 🙂

The wild garlic patch is well guarded and looking good. There’s a wild violet volunteer popping in cheekily and nearby the very first tiny forget me not says ‘hiya’.

The ‘horsey’ border is benefitting from much more light since the apple tree has gone. The hellebores are wonderful.

So that’s my six. You can see more garden highlights at Garden Ruminations, where this week Jim’s amazing Camelia is on show. This amazing gardener and his amazing garden will be on BBC Gardener’s World soon, which is exceptionally exciting!.

Have a good week,
J xx
Happy birthday!! How wonderful and special to be able to pick these beautiful flowers from your own garden!
Don’t delete the photo: It’s lovely. 🙂 Your spring lasagna planters are fabulous. Happy birthday! And happy “six”!
Happy Birthday! It looks like it was. Goodness though; frost?!
I love the frost fern and the selfie!
